Pack Light But Right

Though Komodo liveaboard is often dubbed as a floating hotel, staying in liveaboard’s cabin and in a hotel room is different. Unless you are chartering a whole yacht, you don’t want to bring too many luggage onboard. Usually cabins are quite small, so remember to always pack light. Bring only necessary items and outfits you really want to wear. Pack a lightweight, quick dry towels and swimwear. Swap your hard luggage with soft sided bags that can be folded away when not in use. 

Have Seasick Remedy on Komodo Liveaboard Ready 

Seasickness is a total bummer when it comes to liveaboard trip. Don’t let seasickness disturb your fun of sailing. Have your preferred seasickness medication ready. You could choose from pills or acupressure waistband that could ease sickness symptoms. Some people don’t like medicine and much prefer natural remedy, such as gingers, ginger tea, ginger candy, or essential oils. Always bring your remedy of choice as you’ll never know when the seasickness will kick in.

Wear the Right Footwear

You’ll want to wear something non-slippery that would stick on your feet through the thick and thins. Flip flops are most popular option, but actually they could immediately float and gone right when you step on bodies of water. Strap rubber sandals is much better option. Also, bring some proper sneakers for hiking in the surrounding islands within the national park. The trek is jaggy and the sun is hot, so hiking in sandals would only excruciate yourself. Also, you want something to cover your toes when you’re visiting the beastly lair of Komodo dragons. 

Eat On Time during Komodo Liveaboard Trip

All meal time is provided and scheduled by the liveaboard crew. With lots of activities waiting in the day, having meals on time is important to keep your energy charged. Never skipped a meal or you’ll left feeling drained in the end of the day. Eating on time become first priority when you have certain digestion illness like gastritis, GERD, celiac disease, or other things. Similarly, you need to inform dietary restriction, if any, early before the departure. Give the crew enough time to prepare a decent meal plan for you!

Sleep Early

In this remote frontier, not much thing is happening after the sun sets—which also a blessing in disguise. Spent some time for having spectacular night dive or admire the starry night, then head to your cabin for rest. Never underestimate sleep during a liveaboard trip. It’s time when your body heals and recharge the energy for the next day!

Wake Up Early 

A peaceful early morning is one of the best thing in Komodo liveaboard trip. Sun shines smoothly, water moves swiftly, and the surrounding islands is humming the wild life that just awaken from sleep. It’s perfect to do yoga, light stretching, or just sipping your morning coffee. A morning dive is also completely worth it! You gonna miss a lot of things in Komodo if you sleep in.
