Thanks to Komodo’s archipelagic state, there no way you can hop from one island to another by yourself. The city is not exactly filled with convenient tourist accommodation and attraction. While staying option become pretty much diverse just in the last few years (thankfully), we cannot say the same with transportation, roads, attraction, and dining options.
However, if excursion to Komodo National Park is your focus, then these lack of development will make Flores even more rewarding. With most of the secluded islands remain untouched by civilisation, the wildlife is kept on its most pristine condition. You will have all your needs taken care by the liveaboard Labuan Bajo. You basically sign up for a complete package of hotel, transportation, and three-meals-a-day catering. This probably will be the most convenient solo travel through all your backpacking career.
